Recent Engagements Yanco Associates Engaged by the Ipswich Municipal Light DepartmentRegulatory ConsultingMarch–July, 2008 -- Faced with increasing load, wind turbine and photo-voltaic installations, and pressure from historic groups to place new assets underground, the Department recognized the need to review and establish their terms and conditions for new and existing customers. Like many municipal utilities, Ipswich Municipal Light operates as a town entity and provides electric service, while enforcing the National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code. This became an issue when there were options within these codes to provide alternative services if an electrician or owner was unhappy with the Department’s service since there were no published policies, terms, or conditions. Yanco Associates was engaged to develop a set of terms and conditions for the Department that would allow consistent policies, eliminate ambiguities, and help electricians and customers understand what was required and any alternatives, if they existed.
